About the Event

For the 2024-2025 School year, meetings will ​​be held at the Pinehurst First Baptist Church on HWY 211.  We will typically meet from 1-2:30pm on the 3rd Friday of the Month.

Thank you to those who stepped up to make book club happen as teachers, helpers and substitutes!

​​PreK-​Kindergarten with Tiffany Francis and Chelsea Roberts:  Students will be reading a book in class, followed by a craft/snack. A $1 donation per child is appreciated for supplies each class.  We need an RSVP each month to prepare for crafts/snacks.  

1st-3rd Grades with Tammy Hrinko and Brigitta Staab:  Students will be reading a book in class, followed by a craft​ ​or snack.​  A $1 donation per child is appreciated for supplies each class.  We need an RSVP each month to prepare for crafts/snacks.

​4th-6th Grades with Shannon Berry and David Miedema:  ​​​​Students will ​re​ad ​their book selection ​prior to coming to book club and will discuss it in class.  You may read the book to your child, they can listen to it on audiobook, or they may read it on their own.

  • September:  Disccss what you read over the summer and kick off book club
  • October:  Albert Schweitzer: Le Grand Docteur by Geoff and Janet Benge
  • November:  The Princess Bride by William Goldman
  • January:  Way of the Warrior Kid: From Wimpy to Warrior the Navy SEAL Way, Jocko Willink
  • February:  The Story of Rolf and the Viking’s Bow, by Allen French
  • March:  Adam of the Road by Elizabeth Janet Gray
  • April:  Man of the Family by Ralph Moody
  • May:  How to Train your Dragon by Cressida Cowell

7th-12th Grades* with Ann Caliri.  We still need one helper for this class:  Students will ​re​ad ​their book selection ​prior to coming to book club and will discuss it in class.

  • November:  Call of the Wild by Jack London
  • January:  The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway
  • February:  My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George
  • March:  Hitch by Jeanette Ingold
  • April:  The Wright Brothers by David McCullough
  • May:  26 Marathons; What I Learned About Faith, Identity and Life by Meb Keflexighi (copies of this book provided free of charge.)

We will meet the third Friday of each month, with the exception of December.
